A Spiritual and Physical House Cleaning

Beginning in March, our focus as a congregation shifts to a time of spiritual preparation and “house cleaning” as we prepare for the celebration of Easter.  We call this forty-day time of preparation "Lent."  For two weeks of this season we have a wonderful opportunity to transform spring-cleaning into a spiritual exercise as we pray and meditate while we clear out the physical clutter in our lives.  As an added bonus, without having to buy or sell anything, the eliminated clutter we no longer need could be used to fund ministries at Church of the Beloved!

Church of the Beloved is partnering with iSold It in an innovative Lenten venture that will also help to fund our various ministries.  As you reflect on simplifying your life to make more openings for God's presence, simply clean out your attic, garage and closets (and ask your friends, neighbors and family do the same) then drop off these unwanted items at iSold It!  These items will be researched, photographed, advertised and then sold on ebay.  Church of the Beloved receives approximately 70% of the profit on all such sales!!!

From Sunday, March 5th through Saturday, March 18th, items either brought to worship, or dropped off at the iSold It shop will be sold on e-Bay for the benefit of Church of the Beloved.

Once you donate an item, you will get a link to your auction, so you can track your item's final sale value for your records.
All donations will be tax deductible.

Some examples of good items to donate are:

  • Antiques, heirloom jewelry, vintage items
  • Electronics (cameras, cell phones, computers, gadgets)
  • Sports equipment (golf, cycling)
  • Collectibles and unused wedding or shower gifts
  • Crystal, china, flatware, and household items in boxes
  • Used designer clothing and shoes (i.e. St. John )
  • Perfumes, unopened cosmetics
  • Coats, purses, luggage
  • Cars and motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, and their parts
  • Exercise equipment (treadmills, Nordic track)
  • Bundles of books, CD’s, videos
  • Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Southern Living at Home or other home party merchandise, unused
  • Name- brand children’s clothing that can be sold as a bundle.

Remember that the items for sale should have an expected value of $30.00 or higher.
