The Screwtape letters
Letters (or emails) from loved ones can be the highlight of a day, a small view into their world, written in their own hand. Imagine a bit of a different perspective on your life written by someone else, namely a demon. Sounds intriguing or maybe a little creepy? That is the perspective of The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. This book is an insight into the human condition as told by Uncle Screwtape, a senior demon who is instructing his nephew on the ways of deception. This book is a great read, and is sure to challenge the common perspectives of the evil one and reinforce the saving, redeeming grace of Jesus as our savior. Mere Christianity
In this journey, I have seen and experienced several different perspectives on the Christian faith. This led to a quest for some sort of truth, a truth that was more than just Church and church people, more than just simple rhetoric.
“God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on himself.”
This quote is just some of the truth that I found in the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, a book that explores the Christian faith, and brings to light some trappings and misconceptions of religion. This book is full of insights and observations that explore the very center of our need for a connection with God. Click here to buy this book from Amazon.com and support Church of the Beloved.
